Three-time Grammy-winning artist Megan Thee Stallion will end her run in “Moulin Rouge! The Musical” earlier than scheduled, with her final performance now set for May 1 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre.
The performer, who began her limited engagement on March 24, had initially been slated to appear in the production through May 17. The updated closing date shortens her time in the role of Zidler, a part she made history with by becoming the first female-identifying performer to portray the character in any production of “Moulin Rouge! The Musical” worldwide.
In a social media post, Megan shared:
“It’s been such an honor to be part of thee Moulin Rouge family and I’ve met so many amazing people in this theater! Y’all work so hard and I have so much respect for the dedication, the stamina, the work ethic, the time and the effort y’all put into the work! I’’m so grateful for the cast and crew that made this experience so meaningful. And to all the Hotties that showed up or planned to attend, thank you for supporting me during this incredible journey!”
The announcement follows recent reports that Megan and NBA player Klay Thompson ended their relationship on April 25 after she publicly accused him of cheating. No official reason has been given for the schedule change.

The production has not yet confirmed who will take over the role of Zidler for performances between May 2 and May 17. Patrick Clanton currently serves as understudy for the role. Beginning May 19, Eric Anderson is scheduled to return to the part after previously performing it during the show’s Broadway run.
The current Broadway cast of “Moulin Rouge! The Musical” includes Christian Douglas as Christian, Kelsie Watts as Satine, André Ward as Toulouse-Lautrec, David Harris as the Duke of Monroth, Ricky Rojas as Santiago, Samantha Dodemaide as Nini, and Arianna Rosario as the Satine alternate.
